Things to Do When Visiting Bogatell Beach in Barcelona

Things to Do When Visiting Bogatell Beach in BarcelonaBogatell Beach is one of the many beaches that outline the city of Barcelona, and is one of the most popular beaches in the area. Bogatell beach was created for the Olympic games in the year 1992, and it is still active to this day for hanging out and having fun. Here are some of the best things to do at Bogatell Beach for tourists.

Play Volleyball

The municipal corporation in Barcelona has set up a series of volleyball nets for people to use freely. While volleyballs aren’t provided, you should have no difficulty finding partners and/or opponents to play with for a little game. These nets can be used all year round, and it is a go-to activity for locals.

Wander Around Poblenou

Bogatell Beach is a famous beach in Barcelona because it is right near the neighborhood known as Poblenou. It once was an industrial district, but today, it is a youthful community with breweries and art studios. When first traversing into Poblenou, it can seem eerily quiet, but you can see it’s a very quaint place to live and enjoy life.

Eat A Fantastic Meal

There are many different places to eat in and around Bogatell Beach. They are as follows:

Xiringuito Escriba is one of the most popular eateries in the city to enjoy a delicious meal. Its trademark dish is the fideua, which is a paella that is cooked with noodles rather than rice. Xiringuito Escriba is located right on the beach front, and it is open all year round; the only “xiringuito” that does this, while the rest are only open during the summer. Next door is the Pasteleria Escriba, which is their bakery.

Can Dende is a short walk away from Bogatell Beach, which is where one can get away from the hot, brutal sun. Can Dende is a Brazilian-themed eatery with a friendly vibe and colorful atmosphere. Their trademark menu items include Brazilian cheese bread, fried yuca, and eggs benedict. If you are curious about Spain’s take on Brazilian food, definitely give Can Dende a try.

L’Escamarla is another beachfront restaurant you can consider going to, but only open in the summer. This restaurant specializes in seafood that is inspired by local ingredients. Some meals to consider trying are fried fish, Andalusian-style fried squid, grilled veggies with Romesco sauce, and arroz caldoso, which is a fish stew with rice. This restaurant has a classic, nautical feel which is combined with great views of the Mediterranean.

Go Swimming

Of course, you can also swim and wade in the water. While Bogatell Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Barcelona, it actually isn’t too crowded. It only has 30 percent tourists visiting by the day compared to other beaches around Barcelona. This means you can relax, enjoy a quiet rest, and enjoy a slower, more-friendlier atmosphere compared to other beaches. When going on the boardwalk, you can get up close with Port Olympic, Frank Gehry’s El Peix d’Or, and the W Hotel, which is located at the very end of the shore.

Bogatell Beach has plenty of activities for you to enjoy, and it also usually has a chill and relaxed vibe that anyone can enjoy. You can go swimming, play volleyball, and enjoy a nice dinner, and spend the whole day here, if that is your intention.

There are a number of things to do at Bogatell Beach. List of activities include exploring the boardwalk, visit Poblenou, eat at one of three restaurants, and of course, go swimming with no worries about over crowdedness.
